To all of the suburbia natives trying to find your footing in Boston, you may need some guidance on where to get good grub. You’re probably looking to impress the family when they visit for parents’ weekend and show them that you’ve found your way in city living — and there’s nothing like an awe-inspiring meal to do just that. ​

Everyone travels for different reasons. It could be to visit the city’s greatest museums and landmarks or for adventure if you’re someone with a hunger for an adrenaline rush. I like to travel for the food and the immersion in history and culture.

I grew up with the idea in my head that “The Bachelor” and “The Bachelorette” set a poor example for women. My parents never wanted me to watch it, even though my mom had it on her bedroom television like clockwork every week.

As the climate gets a little colder, and the rosey noses and puffer parkas emerge, there’s one thought that floods the minds of more people than just Buddy the Elf –– Christmas is coming! Oh, and Hanukkah, too.

I make it a point to ask my Uber drivers how their day is going, maybe even strike up a conversation about where they’re from or what they do. Those who are receptive to it turn it into a peaceful conversation — something to pass the time on the drive. Sometimes it doesn’t go anywhere, and you just have to respect that, but most of the time you can tell they appreciate your empathy and will engage just as far as you’re willing.

I can’t say that Eataly doesn’t have a good mission, and I won’t say that I haven’t explored its markets with wide eyes and an open stomach –– but my main concern is its place in Boston.
