My unpublished work — all written for in-class assignments. All of these articles were pitched and executed solely by me, with the exclusion of the enterprise story, where my specific contributions are listed below.

My first time reviewing a play
Final assignment for my Arts Criticism course in Fall of 2024

Review of My Old Ass
My first time writing a review on a movie
Perhaps a little rough around the edges, this review was my first time writing a review on a movie.
Person on the Beat
An interview with Alyssa Palladino of @bottonlyssbites
This assignment was to find and report about someone who is doing something unique on our beat. My beat is food, so I took the opportunity to highlight a food content creator. Food content creation is one of the newest ways to report on the food beat!
Woman’s Lunch Place Article
New England Patriots CEO Robert Kraft, along with the New England Patriots Foundation, served lunch at the Women’s Lunch Place
This assignment was my first time reporting on a real event, after spending a whole semester practicing on imaginary events that my professor created. For this article, I visited the Women’s Lunch Place on Newbury Street to report on the New England Patriot’s Foundations visit and donation.
James Beard Semifinalist Article
An Interview with John DaSilva of Chickadee and Patricia Estorino of Gustazo
For this article, I interviewed two James Beard Semifinalists to discuss what winning would mean for these chefs and their restaurant. The article compares and contrasts the chefs values and experiences.
Cutty’s
An interview with Charles Kelsey, Owner of Cutty’s in Brookline, MA
This assignment was to incorporate government legislation or a relevant bill into a story. In this story, Kelsey shared his experiences as a small business owner, and what the government’s role was in providing economic aid to his business.
Enterprise Story: Boston’s Modern Prohibition
A comparison between Boston’s strict liquor laws and the prohibition era standards in Boston. Speakeasy culture is back.
For this assignment, we were paired up with a classmate and told to pitch and write an article that overlapped our beats. My beat was food, and my partners beat was music, so we landed on an article about speakeasies. With their history in both the jazz industry and the liquor industry, it was the perfect compromise topic that pulled both of us out of the topic we were used to.

For this article, though it was mostly communal, we each completed separate portions. I wrote the introduction and the section on modern prohibition, where I researched the current liquor laws in Boston. Additionally, I reached out to and interviewed Erick Trickey, Enterprise Editor at the New Bedford Light and lecturer at Boston University. I collaborated with my partner, Miguel Gonzales, on editing the piece.
